Dick Powell and Joan Blondell are the stars, “Speaking of the Weather” prob- ably will be sung and whistled about town. So will “Let's Put Our Heads Together,” “Hush Mah Mouth” and “Life Insurance.” Asmashing military number called “All is Fair in Love and War” in- troduces 200 girls in amazing preci- sion drills and dances with flags and drums. Joan Blondell and Glenda Farrel, as chorus girls out of a job, continue the fast and funny gold-digging that they made famous in previous edi- tions of the series. And with Joan and Dick romancing through the pic- ture and Glenda falling in love with Moore—whom she had set out to “take over”—there’s plenty of love interest, Safety Conference Is Planned by Aviators Washington, Dec. 31.—()—Federal authorities, acting in the wake of four major crashes this month, joined hands with airline operators Wednes- day in an effort to reduce eirplane accidents. The commerce department made plans for a safety conference between transport operators and Spokesmen for the army, navy, coast guard and national advisory commit- tee for aeronautics. A date will be fixed soon. Powell Brings Garbo To Her Dancing Sets Greta Garbo asked permission of Eleanor Powell to visit the set where she danced for “Born to Dance,” the new musical extravaganza being shown at the Paramount Theatre.
