Rubber futures were quoted at .19 of a cent a pound to .38 of a cent higher, touching the 20 cents a a mark. Export copper was sold at 11.17% cents a pound, .05 of a cent higher, and .17% of a cent above the domestic level. Zinc for the second quarter, 1937, delivery was quoted at 5.45 cents a pound at East 8t. Louis, & premium of .10 of a cent above the spot price and the best in several years. Rawhide futures, at .05 of a cent to -11 of a cent higher, touched figures that had not been equalled since 1933. Commission house buying, said by some traders to have been largely speculative, carried silk futures up from 3 to 5 cents a pound. The upward surge in commod- ity market follows a. move- ment in London, where copper, lead, zinc and rubber have been bought heavily under pressure of strong de- mand, much of it attributed to arma- ment requirements.
