TOTS & TEENS CONTRACTORS BACK LIGENSE LAW PLAN Builders Would Be Divided Into Three Classes on Finan- cial Rating Fargo, N. D., Dec. 8.—(#}—Recom- mendations for a law to license con- tractors operating in North Dakota are on their way from directors of Associated Contractors of North Da- kota to the group's special legislative committee, according to John H, Hol- man, Fargo, association secretary. Inspection and possible strength- ening of state laws governing foreign persons, co-partnerships or corpora- tions doing construction business in North Dakota likewise will be sug- gested, he said. License law recommendations would divide contractors into three classes on the basis of sums involved in gon- struction jobs. Class A includes those allowed to contract for jobs involving unlimited sums; Class B, up through $75,000 jobs; Class C through $25,000 ones, Those who engage projects costing under $2,000 would require no permit, Concerning foreign firms, effort may be made to alter state law so it regulates them as strictly when they do business in North Dakota as North Dakota contractors are when they take out-of-the-state jobs. On the newly appointed legislative committee are E. E. Salsman, Man- dan, chairman; Matt Oamitsch, Fargo; M. B. Monson and Milton Rue, Bismarck; Gus Fjeldseth, Devils Lake. Their duty is to foster such legisla- tion as they see fit, in the coming state legislature. Road Patrol Centers Work on Saving Lives The North Dakota highway ‘patrol, which since its inception has not con- centrated on an “arrest drive” but on an educational campaign for safety, has tested 10,850 sets of automobile lights and brakes on 16,808 machines, Frank L. Putnam, patrol chief, said ‘Tuesday. Organized in August, 1935, the pa- trol has had 68 court convictions, all @ (90-day suspended sentences, and 40 ® | drivers’ licenses have been revoked. @ | Police have made 102 arrests for “se- tious offenses” which constitute mainly, drunken and reckless driving, g | Putnam said. - “Blinding headlights have probably % | contributed more to highway fatalities ®|in North Dakota the past year than any other cause,” the patrol chief de- @jclared. A., and members of his congregation loyal to him, may be restrained from their church in Carson as the Tesult of an action begun in Morton county district court. Reverend Allen claims all but two of the 65 members of his congregation have joined the seceding group and have renounced the jurisdiction of the regular presbytery and joined the Presbyterian church of America, The action was brought by two members of the Carson church, J. W. Evans and Mrs. Anna Lane, through their attorney, C. L. Young of Bis- marck, and a hearing will be held in Mandan before District Judge H. L. Berry at 10 a. m. Friday on his order requiring Reverened Allen, church of- ficers, and the loyal members of his congregation to show cause why they should not turn over church property to the “original denomination.” + Would Restrain Use The complaint also asks that Rev- erend Allen and his followers be re- strained from interfering with the use of the property by the “original denomination under whose auspices the church was built,” and that they be “restrained from interfering” with loyal members of the Presbyterian Church in the U. 8.
