Davis, recording sec- retary, has returned from the board meeting of the North Dakota Federa- | tion of Music clubs held Monday in Bismarck, and brings much news of interest to federation members. Mrs. Davis went to Jamestown Sun- Gay and was the house guest while there of Dr. and Mrs. G. T. McDonald. Prof. John E. Howard, president of the federation, has been appointed to serve as national chairman of Ameri- can music until the time of the Louis- ville, Ky., convention in April, 1937, it was announced at the meeting. The appointment covers the unex- pired term of Annabel Buchanan, Marion, Va., who has been in charge for a number of years. This was given North Dakota in recognition of the work done through the last few years and is very unusual, as each state is entitled to only one member on the board. Mrs. J. A. QUESTIONNAIRES CO. TO BISMARCK FIRM Bertsch Warns That Every Em- ployer of Person Under 65 Must Answer Five hundred questionnaires, de- signed to supply information for carrying out the federal Social Se- curity act here were being distributed to local employers from the Bismarck Postoffice Monday. At the same time Postmaster Christ FOR SALE MODERNISTIC HOME Fireproof, located near Capitol Phone Wm. J. Noggle, No. 728 Schilling pepper Bertsch pointed out that all employ- ers must report even if they have only one employe under 65 years of age. Even if a man employs only one boy 10 years old he must report, Bertsch emphasized. He said he wanted to make this clear since some previous reports had indicated that only em- ployers of eight or more persons must fill out the blanks, He also pointed out that each con- cern must report, even if it is @ branch of another office. If a chain store, for example, has two or more branches in a city separate reports must be made for each. Questionnaires for employes will be distributed to’employers on Nov. 21 and given by them to the employes, Bertsch said. He emphasized that; every question on the blank for em-/|jj ployes must be answered and that, if the answer is not known, the em- Ploye should write “unknown” in this space. Many local business firms, he said, have agreed to furnish a stenographer for filling out the blanks of employes.
