W. Roberts, federal meteor- ologist. Lowest temperature reported in the state for the past 24-hour period was at Minot where the mercury touched zero. It was 1 above at Grand Forks, 2 above at Jamestown and 4 over the zero reading at Devils Lake, the latter point recording the lowest October reading in history, the Bis- marck weather bureau reported. In the extreme east and west, with the exception of Grand Forks, tem- peratures were higher with Williston reporting 12 above and Fargo 10. It was 10 above in Bismarck early Thurs- day morning. Light snow fell in the northern and western part of the state Wednesday night, weather bureau officials said. At Jamestown about a half inch of snow covers the ground. Joseph’s hospital at Dickinson are among the North Dakota institutions placed on the accredited list by the American College of Surgeons this year, according to the annual year- book which arrived in Bismarck Thursday. To be accredited a hospital must meet the high standards as to equip- ment and methods of management laid down by the college..Each hos- pital is inspected annually and un- less it keeps up to date is removed from the accredited list.
