William Sawtells Celebrate 60th Anniversary of Wedding ‘To Speak in City f Relatives From Illinois and Flasher Are Among Guests at Reception 3 A happy occasion ‘was the reception given Thursday afternoon afid eve- ning by the four daughters'of Mr. and ‘illiam Sawtell of Bismarck to “old, respectively, both are 11 health and greeted individually tl 1 150 guests. Relatives and friends coming a distance for the event were Albert Sawtell, Mrs. John and Clarence Dowland, all of Chesterfield, and Mrs. James Sawtell, Mr. and Mrs, Jesse Pulley and Mrs. C. C. Sherer, all of Flasher. ‘The beautifully decorated cakt made for the bridegroom and bride of 60 years ago stood on a buffet in the midst of bouquets in crystal vases and baskets. American Beauty roses in a crystal bowl and autumn green tapers in candelabra decorated the refreshments table. Mmes. L. F.| Means, Charles Kidd, Henry M. Pfen- ning and Joseph Regan presided dur- ing the afternoon-and Mmes. G. A. Richardson and Charles Toman, &r., during the evening hours, Met at Chesterfield, Tl. by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Benja- min Rogers. There she was reared and met William Sawtell, who was born in Chesterfield June 20, 1854. After their marriage Oct. 1, 1876, Mr. and Mrs, Sawtell farmed near Ches- terfield for 30 years and it was there that their four daughters and a son, Earl Sawtell, who died in 1908, were born. On April 12, 1906, the Sawtell) family moved to Mandan, settling’ on ® farm which Mr. Sawtell op- erated for 10 years, He retired then and they moved into the house at, 406 First avenue, northwest, in) which the reception was held Thurs- day. Blunt, Mason apartments. Mrs. Hornthal is the former Miss Ellen Hall. Dr. and Mrs. Hornthal are spending Friday in Chicago with Mrs, Horn- thal’s brother and sister-in-law, Mr. ard Mrs. Richard Hall. They will travel together to Minneapolis from where Dr. Hornthal will leave for Rochester, Minn., where he will study while Mrs. Hornthal is visiting here.
