dint DEPARTS Newest Nightgowns Are Frilly as Dreams By MARIAN YOUNG (NEA Service Staff Correspondent) New York.—Frillier lingerie, drip- ping with lace and embroidery, and cut on princess lines that flatter the figure, has displaced the strictly tail- ored underwear of the past few sea- sons. The loveliest nightgowns look a good deal more like sleeping garments. As @ matter of fact, Helene Yrande, Paris designer of beautiful under- things, actually sells matching jack- ets or amusing scarfs with her gowns, and tells her customers to wear the costumes as morning outfits. Yrande also does nice chiffon and satin coats, capes and scarfs for breakfasting in bed. One attractive coat has a hood. If you have to prowl around during the night, the hood covers up your tousled choiffure. Nightgowns designed by Helene 'Yrande are not bound to the orthodox lingerie colors. Hers come in night- blue, yellow, green, mauve and rasp- berry pink, sometimes trimmed with black velvet ribbon, threaded through MRS. JOHN P.
