The 68 station hook- up of the NBC-KFYR network will transmit this concert—and also the sumer concerts which begin the fole lowing Sunday, June 7. Staged before 3,000 invited guests in the War Memorial opera house, with the renowned San Francisco Sym- phony orchestra substituting for the regular symphony orchestra, the event is expected not only to be an out- standing radio broadcast, but one of the important musical events of the season in San’ Francisco. Rosa Ponselle to Sing Rosa Ponselle, brilliant prima donna soprano of the Metropolitan opera house, again will appear in the col cert as the featured soloist. Erne Rapee will remain over in California to direct the orchestra as its guest conductor. Mishel Piastro, triumph- ing in a return to what is almost his musical “home town’—for he was for- merly concertmaster and conductor of the orchestra in San Francisco prior to coming to the New York Philhar- monic orchestra as its concertmaster —will appear as violin soloist. Milton Cross, who also is on the West Coast for the concert, will be the announcer and master of ceremonies. The event, popularly styled a “Sunset Symphony concert” in the series, because it will take place in|! San Francisco at 6 o'clock in the eve- ning, even though it is heard along the Atlantic seaboard as late as 10 m., (EDST), follows a similar con- |». p. cert in Los Angeles last Sunday. The same artists were heard in that broadcast last Sunday, when more than 20,000 guests assembled in the famous Hollywood Bowl, a natura) amphitheatre, in a Los Angeles “Sune set Symphony Concert.” The Phil- harmonic orchestra of Los Angeles played at that event—which was 8 Principal occasion in a round of cere- monies attendant upon the dedica- tion of a new $2,500,000 motor assem- bly plant there. A brilliant program of music for the San Francisco broadcast has been pre- pared, including selections from the most notable works of the masters— Wagner, Gluck, Schubert, Bizet, SSS——SS SUMMONS STATE OF NORTH DAKOTA, COUN- TY OF BURLEIGH IN DISTRICT. cee a FOURTH JU- Plaintiff, DICIAL DIST rs.
