D., May 28.—Final prepar- ations are in here for the 17th annual convention of the Catho- lic Central Verein and the Catholic ‘Women’s Union of North Dakota, June 1-2. Delegates from 20 Catholic men’s and 13 Catholic women’s societies in the state will attend the celebration, which is expected to be one of the largest in the state. One hundred twenty invitations have been sent to Priests of North Dakota and the ma- jority of this number are expected to attend. A special jubilee observance will take place Tuesday evening to honor the Lefor St. Joseph’s verein, which celebrates the 25th anniversary of its organization. This will be climaxed by the grand convention ball led by Pioneers and founders of the unit. Speakers at the mass meeting set for 2 p. m., Monday will be Most Revs. Aloisius Munech and Vincent Wehrle of the Fargo and Bismarck dioceses, respectively, Abbot Cuth- bert Goeb of Assumption abbey, Rich- ardton, Gov. Walter Welford and F. P. Kenkel, 8t. Louis, Mo. Delegates and guests will be housed in private homes. Meals will be serv- ed in the spacious auditorium of 8t. Elizabeth’s church where women of the parish will do the cooking. Special entertainment will be provided in the evenings by the Lefor band, orchestra and dramatic club. Cummins, state director for the National Emergency council. Approval of the final installment of the grade crossing projects under the U. S. work program was given by Cummins and Thomas H.
