He even went so far as to begin taking boxing lessons, just im case it might become necessary to Prove that Little Lord Fauntleroy ‘was no sissy. But the small star’s worries were totally unfounded as he discovered ‘when producer David O. Selznick as- eured him he would not have to wear the long golden curls and that the velvet suit.would be modified to meet modern .changes in boys’ clothing styles. Besides it would be worn in only one scene of the picture. This was the result of the pub- | lic reaction of.readers of the book who ‘wrote to.the producer suggesting that Freddie. be let off wearing the curls and lace.collars and sashes. ‘Leathernecks’ Film Has Inspiring Theme Devotion to the Marine Corps, a spirit which transcends all personal considerations on the part of its present. and former personnel, pro- | vides the inspiring theme of “The Leathernecks Have Landed,” which comes to the Capitol theatre Friday and Saturday. Lew Ayers is starred as a Marine who has a way with the women and also a way of getting himself and his best friends into trouble. Isabel Jewell will be seen in the leading feminine role with Jimmy Ellison featured in the part of Ayres’ buddy. The exotic seaports of Havana and Shanghai and the interior of China furnish the background over which the story moves, Seton I. Miller, who has had such screen successes as “G-Men,” “Frisco Ki “The Crowd Roars” and “The Dawn Patrol” to his credit, wrote the screen- play. Summed up in a few words, “The Leathernecks Have Landed” is the story of what happened to Woody Davis after he was kicked out of the service as the result of the death of a buddy in a cafe brawl, and the long hard road he had to take to make a | comeback, aided by Brooklyn, the girl | who had “missed too many boats.” Among the other well known names {in the large cast are James Burke, J. |Carrol Naish, Ward Bond, Maynard Holmes, Clay Clement, Ray Benard, Claude King and Paul Porcasi.
