Karloff and Bela Lugosi, two of the screen’s most sinister figures, are co-starred again in this remarkable Picture, which combines mystery and Startling adventure with a depiction of scientific marvels not yet actually accomplished by experimentors. Karloff, as a “lone wolf” scientist working entirely by himself brings down from the heavens an actual re- production of the battle of suns and stars millions of years ago, and the great glass dome of his laboratory is filled with blinding light as prehis- toric events in a starry nebula are re- lived. Later he discovers a sub- stance a thousand times more power- ful than radium, and looses it on his enemies before an accident finally makes him a victim of his own ruth- lessness. “The Invisible Ray” was directed by Lambert Hillyer, and the cast ap- pearing in support of Karloff and Lu- gosi includes Frank Lawton, Frances Drake, Walter Kingsford, Beulah Bondi and Violet Kemble Cooper. Do not fail to see this gripping and remarkably colorful picture. Some cockleburr shells germinate j@fter the first year, and some do not sprout until the second year. ‘The “singing” of katydids is achiev- ed by the rubbing of their wings. Tt is said that cod liver oil is good ALLEY OOP for pupies and old dogs. The sweet pea is a native of the island of Sicily. Se Attention! ! ‘We have petitions for nomina- tion for all city, county, state and no-party tickets.
