(CST) over an NBC-KFYR, network. Pat, the singing, dancing, clowning Irish star, is going to help Ben get his Irish brogue all straightened out, and at the same time, Pat again will do one of the famous Irish clog dances that. he did when he had the honor of being the first person to dance before a radio microphone. Listeners again will enjoy the famous Irish skit that Pat Rooney does so well. (CST). Making their debut appropriately enough on St. Patrick’s Day, Dowling and Dooley, who are husband and wife, will supply the comedy high- jinks of the new series. Famed as stage headliners for years, Dowling and Dooley are credited with having originated the modern heckling type of humor. Goodman has risen to international fame as an orchestra leader in less than 18 months. It was less than a year and a half ago that the bespect- acled clarinetist organized an or- chestra to audition for a new spon- sored program then being built. He not only won an engagement on the Program but went on to one night club and ballroom triumph after an- other as he toured the United States. His band is known as one of the out- standing exponents of the new “swing” music cycle, now rising s0 rapidly in popularity. Miss Ward, lovely singing star of. the new series, is a New Yorker who has been featured with Goodman’s orchestra since its formation. The Program will originate in the NBC Chicago studios. Barrymore and Dykes Josef Hofmann Will Be Concert Guest Artist Josef Hofmann, generally rated by critics. with _ Pederewski and. Rach-. maninoff pas one of the three great- est living pianists, will be the guest soloist of the concert program Sun- day, March 15. The nation-wide hook-up of 66 NBC-KFYR network stations will broadcast the concert between 9 and 10 p. m (CST). The famed pianist, who also is head of the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, will be heard with the 10-piece symphony orchestra under Conductor Erna Rapee in a program selected from among the works of Wagner, Grieg, Chopin, Liszt, Bizet, Tschaikowsky, Gluck and Griselle. Hofmann’s program will include the most famous of the four Chopin ballades, the Ballade in M major; the Chopin Waltz in D-flat majo: popularly known as the “Mint Waltz”; the Melody from “Alceste” Gluck-Sgambaiti; and the prililane Liszt Polonaise in BE major. (OST), over an NBC- KFYR network. Vi Bradley, singing pianist of West Coast night clubs, and Clyde Hager, Hollywood comedian, also will visit at the microphone. Barrymore will be presented in a short character play, while Dykes will bring big league gossip from the win- ter training camp of the White Sox in Pasadena. Some Jolson ditties, smooth or- chestrations by Victor Young and his orchestra, and vocal teamwork by Jack Stanton and Peggy Gardiner completes the entertainment line-up. Gladys Swarthout Will Sing on KFYR Sunday New York, March 14—Songs by Gladys Swarthout, beautiful. mezzo- soprano of the Metropolitan Opera company, and by the world-famous Vienna Boys’ choir, will be broadcast over NBC-KFYR network Sunday, March 15, at 1 p. m, (C8T). Miss Swarthout’s appearance will be one of the few she has made in radio since she returned from Hol- lywood in January after making “Rose of the Rancho” for Paramount, her first starring picture. The Vienna Boys’ choir now is touring the United States, and will teach New York just in time for the broadcast. It is composed of 18 boys under the direction of Father Joseph Schnitt. Dr. Victor Gomboz is the musical director and accompanist. The choir, in this country since January, will sail for Vienna on April 1, at the conclusion of an extended concert tour., Frank Blatk and the NBC Sym- phony orchestr: the Magic Key's flying reporter, and Milton J.
