THE BISMARCK TRIBUNE, THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 27, 1936 EO 1036 SERVICE, IN “Oh, boy! She's going to make a grand slam, if she only plays this hand the way I'd play it.” THis Curious Wort By William Ferguson @ rossiuzeo, PREHISTORIC DRAGONFLY, 24 FEET LONG, or FOUR, OR TAKEN FOR THEM TO REACH ts NOT A BEAVER, NOR A SQUIRREL, UNDER WHICH CLASSI- | FICATION IT FIRST WAS PLACED/ IT LOOKS LIKE A | TAILLESS WCOCCHUCK, BUT ACTUALLY IS RELATED TO THE PORCUPINES. Cyclone Racer Feature In New Cantor Picture ‘The Cyclone Racer, the giant roller coaster at Long Beach, Calif, was hired by Samuel Goldwyn for the comedy chase scenes in “Strike Me Pink,” Eddie Cantor’s sixth annual Goldwyn musical extravaganza which begins a three-day run at the Para- mount theatre today. The musical, which features Ethel Merman, Sally Eilers, Parkyakarkus and William Frawley, casts the pop- eyed comedian as a timid amusement, park manager who takes a corre- spondence course in personal magnet- ism and runs afoul of a gang of slot machine racketeers. “Strike Me Pink,” which introduces @ whole new crop of Goldwyn Girls, said to be the loveliest ever, was based on Clarence Budington Kel- jJand’s Saturday Evening Post story novel, “Dreamland.” The adaptation and screen play are by Frank Butler, Walter De Leon and Francis Martin. ‘Norman Taurog handled the mega- phone. The picture features a number of smart, novel dance ensembles staged by Robert Alton and photographed by Gregg Toland, and several tune- ful new song hits written by Harold Arlen and Lew Brown. Included mong the latter are “The Lady Dances,” “The Calabash Pipe,” “First You Have Me High, Then You Have Me Low” and “Shake It Off.” Storms in the United States travel across the country at an average rate Noah Beery, Jr., Star In New Filn, ‘Stormy’ The much heralded “Stormy” is the current attraction at the Capitol theatre and to say that it is every- thing and more that this reviewer ex- pected is to put it mildly indeed. The entire picture was made on location in the Painted Desert, Oak Creek Canyon and other beautiful spots in Arizona, and the result is a film that leaves one gaping with ad- miration. Noah Beery, Jr., does a brilliant characterization in the title role of “Stormy,” Jean Rogers, lovely, blonde and quite enchanting, also delivers a sterling performance in the femine lead. A newcomer to pictures, this Boston beauty contest winner has taken a big step toward the top in this one film, Rex, the king of wild horses, seems more wildly beautiful and untamed than ever. But the real hit of the Picture is his seven weeks old colt. Brought in wild from the range it is obvious that he has been permitted to act himself and the result is scenes that will tug at the heartstrings of all. The Arizona Wranglers, seven fron- tlersmen well known to radio fans, work as actors in the picture and of- fer an attractive interlude of several numbers. Their musical appearances are skillfully worked into the story and are a distinct treat. Sapphires are often passed off as diamonds, When the color is re- moved from the sapphires, even ex- perts find it difficult to distinguish them from diamonds, The number of Roman Catholics in.
