The Lions will engage Coach Mein- hover'’s St. Mary's aggregation at the ‘World War Memorial building tonight and conclude their invasion against the Bismarck high school Demons Friday at the high school gymnasium. Both games have been called for 3 p.m Last week the Saints passed and shot their way to a convincing 21-7] victory over Hazen and the Demons! marked up a one-sided 32-4 triumph over Hebron. The Saints will be without the services of Art Heibling, forward, who is sick, Meinhover has shifted Pete Fischer back to the forward position} and will have Jim Hurning, who was} ut of the season's opener, to take over the regular guard position. Rest of Lineup Intact The rest of the-Saint starting line-j up will be the same as last week with Andy Anderson at center, LeRoy Refi; at the forward post opposite Fischer and Dick Rausch at the other guard berth. Seeking to patch up the apparent weaknesses in ball-handling and shooting, Coach Glenn Hanna has had the Maroon and White team scrim-|GT@ maging regularly this week. Buddy Beall, veteran guard, has returned tc uniform this week and will probably see action in Friday's encounter. Hanna, however, plans to start the same combination that worked so well} against Hebron last week with Hel- muth Clausnitzer and Johnny Abboit at forwards; Capt. It was on Dec, 14, 1934, that Joe ;beat Lee Ramage and flashed into national prominence as a comer. Since then he has fought as often as j ais managers would let him and sel- ; dom has failed to produce a knockout with his lethal left. He put boxing back onto a time” basis last summer bouts against Primo Carnera and Max Baer, and he is expected to draw some 20,000 fans Friday. Although opinion is almost unani- ‘mous that Joe will beat the durable basque, who is 15 years older and known more as a “catcher” than as a ipuncher, the capacity crowd is ex-iSackman, c . | pected to lay more than $100,000 on; the line to see if he will be the first man to knock Paulino off his feet. Like Max Schmeling, who is slated to encounter Louis in June if Joe can get past Paulino, Isidor Gastanaga and Charley Retzlaff, the Basque in- sists Louis is not a superman and can be defeated by a good fighter who! can hit him on the right spot.
