As for George Murphy, he has more recently been featured in some famous musicals, notably, “Hold | Everything,” “Of Thee I Sing,” “Shoot the Works,” and “Roberta.” It was from “Roberta” that he went | to Hollywood to appear with Eddie Cantor in “Kid Millions,” under a long-term contract. this romantic team has an ideal ve- hicle in “After the Dance.” In it, Murphy, as a crooner in a night club, becomes implicated in a murder, goes to prison, escapes through no efforts of his own, and is taken in by Miss Carroll when he is being hunted by the authorities. Wearing a mask, Murphy gets a dancing spot in a night club with Miss Carroll and makes a sensation with his educated feet.
