Fort Lincoln. Soldier on Fur- lough Faces Automobi Theft Charge An overcoat held securely in the closed door of a stolen automobile landed Alex L. Cieslak, Fort Lincoln soldier, in jail Friday, charged with the theft of the car. Police Chief W. R. Ebeling declared he is confident Cieslak’s arrest also clears up the theft of another auto- mobile Wednesday night, but has no definite clue which would establish the owner of the overcoat as guilty | of the second theft. Cieslak, who is on a 30-day furlough from the local army post, was ar- rested Thursday after police discov- ered a letter addressed to the soldier in one of the overcoat pockets. The stolen car, owned by Earl E. Speaks, 1310 Ave. B, was located where it had been turned over in the ditch at Fifth St. and Bowen Ave. | From all appearances, the driver had | _ gotten out of the overturned car and | then slammed the door on the coai, which he took off rather than reopen the door. | Later the same evening, a coupe belonging to J.
