AT THE MOVIES Rogers Cast as Horse Trainer in Last Film Presenting Will Rogers with a stel- Jar supporting cast, “In Old Ken- tucky” brings the drama which has thrilled and delighted thirty million Americans to the screen in the Fox picturization now at the Paramount Theatre, today and Tuesday. Rogers’ role in “In Old Kentucky,” is that of old Steve Tapley. A shrewd, quizzical and humorous horse-trainer, he makes champions of colts, friends out of feud fighters and brings ro- mance to estranged sweethearts. The drama of the picture arises out ot a feud between the families of old Charles Sellon and Charles Richman. Rogers gets himself in and out of all sorts of trouble trying to protect Sel- lon from the law, and keeping the ro- mance of Sellon’s daughter and Rich- man’s trainer from breaking up. The contest between the two fami- lies reaches its dramatic climax when they enter their horse in the great Ashford Stakes. In a pounding, heart-gripping finish, Rogers’ horse comes in ahead carrying romance and happiness across the finish line. Cast as Rogers’ faithful friend and hostler, Bill Robinson looses his nim- ble feet on a series of his incompar- able tap dances and even teaches Rogers a few of his steps so that the humorist can win the heart of a southern lady! FLAPPER, FANNY SAYS: Claudette Colbert in ‘She Married Her Boss’ ‘The problems of a private secretary are briskly dealt with in Claudette |Colbert’s new Columbia picture, “She |Married Her Boss,” which opens at the Capitol Theatre tomorrow and continues through Wednesday and ‘Thursday. Produced by the same company that gave you Miss Colbert in “It |Happened One Night,” the new film ‘has the same buoyancy and fresh- ness that made its predecessor a five- way prize-winner. “She Married Her Boss” is undoubtedly the grandest fun since the falling of the walls of Jericho, Miss Colbert herself is delightful; her inherent charm and vivacity have {never been shown to better advan- |tage. As a very efficient secretary who carelessly falls in love with her boss, she sees to it that he take time off one day to buy here a wedding ring. That proves a costly mistake, for the marriage turns out to be one of the maddest things one can im- agine, The fun continues fast and furious, with Miss Colbert as the storm cen- ter. Melvyn Douglas does a fine job as the frantic boss, and Michael Bart- | lett, last seen in Grace Moore's “Love Me Forever,” is thoroughly engaging as a devil-may-care chap who tries to manage the secretary's affairs for her. d In flight, a sparrow’s wings make 13 strokes a second.
