Al- though a historical romance, wrung from the actual records of the Brit- ish Admiralty, it is far more absorb- ing than pure fiction. It is a superb achievement in mo- tion pictures, a historical picture as it should be and one that will live fur years to come as one of the most exciting sea tales cver screened. ‘The picture is the true story of tlie voyage of H. M. 8, Bounty 150 years ago, on a scientific expedition to the South Sea. It tells of the tyranny of a brutal captain who drove his crew to mutiny, of the life and loves of the sailors in a tropical paradise and the dogged pursuit of Captain Bligh for the men who had fed him to the wrath of the sea hy casting him adrift in an open boat. “Mutiny on the Bounty” lives up to all the advance praise that has shouted the picture’s merits around the world. Its scenic beauty, some- times stark and cruel, is unsurpassed. Its cast, headed by Charles Laughton, Clark Gable and Franchot Tone, is incomparable. ‘Three Musketeers’ Has Lucas, Stevens, Olsen Reliving the blazing careers of three of France's greatest swordsmen, On- slow Stevens, Moroni Olsen and Paul Lukas add color and action to RKO Radio's current ffim version of Alex- andre Dumas’ immortal story of “The Three Musketeers” which will show at the Capitol theatre, starting to- night. Fine actors all, they portray the roles, respectively, of Aramis, Porthos and Athos. Although the dominat- ing figure of the colorful 17th century story is the hot-blooded d’Artagnan, played by Walter Abel, his Musketeer companions add the swashbuckling, roistering dash so essential to proper presentation of the Dumas classic. Although Dumas wrote his tale as fiction, the men pictured as the three musketeers were one actual figures in the life of France. Athos was a Bear- nese gentleman named Armand de Sillegue d’Athos, Porthos was an ad- venturer from Pau named Isaac de Portau and Aramis was Henri d'Aram- itz, @ squire and lay abbot of Bearn.
