Roderick, chairman of the de- partment of animal pathology and hygiene, has just shown that horse “sleeping sickness” or en- cephalomyelitis is a trans- missible virus disease possi- bly carried by mosquitoes. Back in the years between 1916 and 1922 when Dr. Ro- erick first came from the University of Georgia where he had been teaching and do- ing hog cholera work, he car- ried on studies on hog cholera in North Dakota. His next outstanding piece of work was the research done from 1922 to 1982 on sweet clover poi- soning in cattte. More re- search work on this problem has been done at the NDAC than in all the rest of the * world combined. The court held that “in accomplishment of justice” a new trial should be ordered.
