M./% @)soce Bismarck Flower Growers To Exhibit at Local Garden Club Will Meet Thursday Night to Dis- cuss Plans Several Bismarck flower growers will have exhibits in the annual flow- er show sponsored by the Missouri Slope Gladiolus society and the Civic Improvement league in Mandan this month, according to Rev. Ellis Jack- son, president of the Bismarck Gar- den club. Dates for the Mandan show have been set August 16 and 17. The Bismarck club meets tonight in the Chamber of Commerce rooms at 7:30 o'clock, President Jackson an- nounces. Plans for the Bismarck summer garden show to be held later this season will be discussed as well as other business matters, Judge John L. Lewis of Minot will judge the gladiolus exhibits for the third consecutive year. Judge Lewis, former president of the National Gladiolus society, is one of the fore- most authorities in the country on gladioli and one of the largest grow- |the ers in the state. The gladiolus exhibit will be fea- tured again this year in connection with the league's flower show. The state horticultural society convenes in Mandan for s two-day session on Thursday, August 15, allowing dele- gates and visitors an opportunity to view the flower show on the day. About 60 are expected for the meeting. Entertainment _features Planned for the horticulturists in- clude tours to places of interest in Bismarck and Mandan and an in- spection of Fort McKean and the Slant Indian village. Named on a committee to welcome the visitors to Mandan are W. P. Baird, agronomist at the U. 8. Ex- Periment station; Russell Reid, cur- ator of the state historical society and director in the rebuilding of Fort McKean; R. C. Newcomer, Morton county agent, and . C.
