6 ~ SAY NEW LAW WILL ‘END FEDERAL FEUD ‘New NRA and Trade connate sion May Be Coordinated Under Latter Body ‘Washington, June 21—(#)—While *.@- drive for a new NRA law is getting ‘under way behind the scenes in im- administration circles, the president has moved to break the two- =-year feud between the federal trade commission and NRA. Both sides are said to be willing to Jet by-gones be by-gones, and offi- cials of both groups are expected to get together to discuss matters in a friendly way. Within tie new, stop-gap NRA or- ganization there is said to be a desire for cooperative effort under which the commission would have an op- portunity to share in the making of voluntary codes. Whether the fogs of distrust that |] kept the two agencies apart during old NRA can be dispelled remains to ‘be seen. The commission has already taken a friendly step in determining not to create codes of its own, as it has power to do. Some 50 to 60 industries have made Anquiries regarding such codes, but the commission feels it should avoid dup- lication, try to give advice, and see to it that actions of industry under codes do not violate the anti-trust Y acts. ‘The proposed new NRA legislation thas been drafted by an administra- tion group, though President Roose- velt’s views on it are unknown. It would join NRA to the commission ‘under the commission's name. It probably would enlarge the commis- sion from its present five members to seven or nine. A definition of interstate commerce would be an important part of the legislation. Bismarck Corps to Compete for Title Grand Forks, N. Future of League Is Involved in Dispute Rome, June 21.—(?)—The Italo- Ethiopian dispute raised again Friday the question of the future of the League of Nations, with the burden of an answer apparently falling on Britain’s captain Anthony Eden. Well-informed sources said that whether Italy carries out her virtual threat to quit the league may depend on Captain Eden’s forthcoming visit to Rome and his conversations with Premier Benito Mussolini. High quarters expressed a belief that Italy would follow Japan, Germany and Paraguay out of the league if the council attempted to intervene in the Italo-Ethiopian dispute on the basis of an Ethiopian note presented Thurs- day to Geneva.
