Former Bismarck Man In ‘Hit-Run’ Accident E. E. Schaefer, former Bismarck man, is wondering who the Jekyll- Hyde motorist was that took him and three injured companions to a Breck~ enridge, Minn., hospital Sunday night following an automobile acci- dent, placed them on the elevator, hit Schaefer in the face for no ap- parent reason, then fled. : Schaefer, now night city editor of the Fargo Forum, George Nelson, Miss Phoebe Rose and Miss Helga Lindblom were en route to a dance near Breckenridge. One mile and a half north of Wahpeton’s sister city, their car plunged into a ditch as Nel- son attempted to avoid colliding with @ parked car and one coming onto the main highway from a side road. Critically injured was Miss Lind- blom who suffered a broken back. The other three Fargoans sustained severe cuts and shock from hemorr- ages. One of the unidentified mo- torists volunteered assistance, rushed the injured to the hospital. His at- tack on Schaefer occurred after he had placed them on the hospital ele- vator. Wilkin county peace officers are seeking the identity of the as- sailant. Schaefer was an Associated Press employee in Bismarck during 1938 and 1929 coming here from his home in St. Paul. He has been connected with the Fargo Forum since leaving Neche; William Crockett, speaker of the house; Senator G. F. Drew of Devils Lake, and R. J. Downey of Devils Lake.
