"Hh GEE NIUE NEVER SEALY, MUCH ABOUT ~~ Little Miss Shirley Flying Down to Rio’ TIRED Captivates Audience Shirley Temple, that arch darling of the screen, has captured our hearts egain, Her new picture, “Our Little Girl,” opened yesterday at the Paramount ‘Theatre to an eager audience. The transports of delight from young and old prove once more what a hold this wonder child has on the movie public. It is an amazing performance she ives here. Without exaggeration “Our Little Girl,” an emotional story that might happen in any home, can be called her greatest picture to-date. ‘The rich spontaneous art she dis- plays here rebuilds our faith in all that goes to make life a joyous ad- venture. ‘ All through the picture this re- wiewer kept thinking of the tribute ‘which Irvin 8. Cobb the writer paid Bhirley, on the occasion of the Academy Award. Said he: “You have made more people happy and gnade more children laugh than any child your age in the history world.” words were not spoken to be the charm and glamor cast by this amazing youngster. By time one takes for granted the splendid natural acting accom- compelling picture Shirley ® song which bears the title She captivates young the heart strings with unassuming but perfect art, sing- the same rich humanity audience when she is To Show Here Again “Flying down to Rio,” RKO-Radio Pictures’ musical extravaganza, with its flying chorines, its soaring pianos, its marimbolas and its chocalhos, lit- erally knocks the spots off hitherto produced under the title of “musical production.” It is spectac- wlar beyond words. This picture is Scheduled for a return engagement at the Capitol Theater Tuesday and Wednesday. Equally astonishing is the fact that the production has a story. Handsome Gene Raymond takes his American jazz band to Rio de Janeiro to open a show in a new hotel. He falls in love with Dolores Del Rio, daughter of the hotel owner, and a hot rivalry develops between Raymond and Raul Roulien, a situa- tion complicated by thé fact that Roulien has been engaged to Del Rio for years. In full view of thousands of awed Brazilians, girls sing and dance on the wings of airplanes, adagio danc- ers hurl their fair partners from one plane to another and ballet dancers trip the light fantastic while flutter- ing earthward in parachutes. Any attempt to list the delightful and thrilling innovations introduced in this production is futile. “Flying Down to Rio” is one of those films that has to be seen to be appreciated. Del Rio, as a Latin-American beauty gives the performance of her life, as does Raul Roulien, celebrated Spanish and South American star, whose beautiful tenor voice lends en- chantment to many of the romantic melodies.
