Thirteen years ago Miss Farrar end- ed her career as an opera singer. Her farewell performance at the Metro- Politan Opera House created a sensa- tion, Her dressing room was packed with flowers and messages. The Gerry Flappers, a nationwide organization of thousands of young girls, declared that no one else could ever replace their favorite. Her audience alter- nately cheered and wept, and thou- outside the opera house. Last fall Geraldine Farrar returned (9 the Metropolitan Opera House as @ radio commentator, staking the re- putation made by her voice on her wit, her intelligence and her personal charm. Today, as her first season as radio raconteuse at the Saturday aft- ernoon broadcasts of Metropolitan Opera over NBC networks draws to a close, the records testify that she has succeeded.
