[_AT THE MoviES | Ronald Colman Back As Bulldog Drummond Ronald Colman returned from a year’s vacation to bring an old friend back to the screen of the Paramount Eyer since Colman made the earlier talkie, “Bulldog Drummond,” the filmgoing public has retained a fond memory of the dashing Captain Hugh Drummond whom he first portrayed in that picture. Drummond also holds a fond place in Colman’s heart, for it was in the ereation of this character that he seored his greatest screen hit. It was pleasant news to the star, therefore, when Joseph M. Schenck and Darryl F. Zanuck informed him that they had purchased “Bulldog Drummond Strikes Back” as his first starring vehicle under his new con- Sigy on a fuel yard. in Paducah, Ky.: “Isemann, the 1] man.” Three Weeks to Train Cockatoo in Film Job A white cockatoo is the bird that finally solves the riddle of three mur- ders and a kidnaping in the Warner | Bros. picture, “The White Cockatoo,” which comes to the Capitol Theatre Thursday with Jean Muir and Ricardo Cortez in the leading roles, For the film three cockatoos were jused, two doubling for the principle actor. The cockatoo, in the picture, puts its beak into the murderer's Pocket and puils out a slip of paper the police have been looking for, | Which proves the man is the killer. | It took an expert trainer three weeks to get the bird to perform this feat to the satisfaction of Director Alan Crosland. During the entire action of “The White Cockatoo,” which is laid on the seacoast of France during the winter, the wind roars, moans, howls and sighs incessantly through the trees surrounding the chateau, height- ening the eerie and dismal atmos- Phere which pervades the place. The picture is a thrilling murder mystery drama. There is an all star cast which includes Jean Muir, Rac- ardo Cortez, Gordon Westcott, John Eldredge, Ruth Donnelly, Walter Kingsford, Minna Gombell, Armand de Bordes, Addison Richards and Noel Francis.
