oo _THE BISMARCK TRIBUNE, MONDAY, JANUARY 21, 1985 __ Ride” a new meaning. The new Airflow is designed to “bore” through the air with @ mini- mum of wind-resistance to cut down Operation costs. “Valleys” between the fenders and hood have been eliminated. The engine is mounted over the front axle, slowing down the movement of the springs and per- mitting the body to be moved for- ward. Airflow passengers ride in the “cradled” area between the front and rear axles. They are completely sur- rounded by the single-unit body frame of bridge-truss steel girders, steel body panels and the steel floor. Similar weight distribution princi- ples have been incorporated in the Airstream cars. The floor of the Airstream has been lowered 3% inches, permitting higher seats, Airstream passengers have more head and leg room. They ride with their legs extendsd straight downward, instead of being stretched forward. Ride Stabilixer Novel The new ride stabilizer on the Air- flow models consists of a round steel bar with steel arms fastened to each end. The bar fs mounted on bearings, as in rounding s curve, the iin q 5 — — -_ ARR LRIDUNE, MOUND PANU AT. 1dvt iia = ge o——________-____¢/ ast _ year's experience and achieve-| keeps the car on an even keel all the * time and gives the passengers a new ; P SHERIFF AND P EACE iN Snow Sports Queen j mw sensation of steadiness and road: | a <=, | The 1935 De Soto cars, both the| ability. \ : y s ig Airflow and the Airstream, have the) De Soto engineers have improved ‘ following advanced features: high| the steering of the Airflow.
