With a cast as large and mag- nificent as the last year hit, the new Picture is revolutionary in several Tespects. In the first place the cast is headed by three outstanding stars, Joan Crawford. Clark Gable and Robert Montgomery, who, while they have played in teams, have never be- fore appeared together. Perfectly cast, they comprise what could be called the ace triangle of the year. Secondly, the new picture has a) verve and pace not the slightest bit weighted or slowed down by the en- ormity of its cast. This is due to the brilliant direction of W. S. Van Dyke, who with this picture excels even his Fino i, g Fee il e ee iH in Sir James Barrie's never-to-be- forgotten story and play, “The Little Minister,” this quaint document has endeared itself to theatre-goers every- where, And now Katharine Hepburn has made a splendid interpretation of the story as her new starring vehicle for RKO-Radio, This picture is being shown at the Capitol Theatre tonight, Tuesday and Wednesday. Hollywood's lavish resources have been drawn upon to the limit in re- gard to production, cast, detail, intim- ate touches, backgrounds, color, ro- mance and intepretations. There is the appealing romance of the little pastor, Gavin Dishart, for Babbie—a romance that tugs at the heart and engenders a fine sentiment enchanting to the beholder. Babbie returns this love with all the nature of her sex—and to this love Hepburn is said to give a depth of tenderness and spirit which even she has never before revealed. Sir James M. Barrie is a keen, pene- trating, though whimsical, writer. He knows the feminine soul and his Bab- ble is the eternal Eve that he painted her—and Miss Hepburn is the ideal vies to portray his heroine most ly. ‘The spectator instantly responds to her naive net of intrigue which she weaves around the serious-minded Ga- i i ge Hg i EARG A THUD, THE SECOND SENTRY RUNS OVER WAeess Hey, FRITZ.
