E. O. Leader Mrs. John P. French, Bismarck, Fri- day was named president of the North Dakota chapter of the P. E. O. Sister- hood at the closing meeting of the twentieth annual convention, which had been in session for three days at Kenmare. Mrs. French succeeds Mrs, Lenna Ford Graves, Jamestown, who presided at the meeting and was ad- vanced from the first vice-presidency. She is a member of Chapter F. The slate of officers elected in- cludes besides Mrs. Srench: Mrs. Ma- bel 8. Hutchinson, LaMoure, first vice president; Mrs. Kathryn Goddard, Ellendale, second vice president; Mrs. Ina E. Taylor, Fargo, organizer; Mrs. Iva M. Anderson, Williston, recording secretary re-elected; Mrs. Lulu Selke, Mayville, corresponding secretary, and Mrs. Grace Schanberger, Kenmare, treasurer. ‘Women who attended the conven- tion from Chapters F and N of Bis- marck were Mrs. French, Mrs. George F. Shafer, Mrs. W. L. Nuessle, Mrs. F. O'Ha.e, Mrs. Charles Staley, Miss Esther Maxwell, Mrs. Arthur V. Sor- enson, Mrs. Samuel H. Merritt and Miss Helen Katen, who was present for a short time. As former superintendent of public instruction in North Dakota, and aetive for many years in club and P. E. The county committeemen met for instruction Saturday morning in 8 special opening session. Administra- tion of the code was outlined by F. G. Orr, Bismarck, a member of the state committee, and M. I. Forkner, Langdon, secretary-treasurer. County chairmen were instructed in the du- ties of their office and the rulings and interpretations of the code. A luncheon was held at noon after which delegates began consideration of the federal government's program. Reviews Convention E. D. Lum, Wahpeton, spoke briefly on the meeting of the National Edi- torial association at St. Louis. Em- phasis was placed on the 100 per cent adherence to the price level set by the code, he said. The methods of handling com- plaints against violators of the cods were outlined by R. B, Cumsins, di- rector of the National Council for this state. He dealt espe- cially with labor compliance com- plaints in illustrating how the federal set-up functioned. In cases where complaints cannot be settled to satisfaction of both parties they be referred to the federal director the district attorney for litigation, office, he concluded.
