Davis, president of the eighth district, North Dakota Federation of Women’s clubs, as chair- man, ‘ Miss Marie Huber, county superin- tendent of schools, was elected presi- dent and Mrs. Davis was named to the office of historian. Other offi- cers of the chapter are Mrs. Emma Weiss Nuessle, vice president; Miss Catherine E. Morris, second vice President; Mrs. Martha Peterson Wet- more, recording secretary; Miss La- vina Register, corresponding secretary, and Mrs. Minnie Larson Shuman, treasurer. The third Monday of each month was set as the regular meeting date, with the first regular meeting to oc- cur on Monday, May 21. A committee appointed to secure the meeting place includes Miss Morris, Miss Maude Schroeder and Miss Huber. With chapters already organized at Fargo and Valley City, the Bismarck organization is the third to be formed in the state under auspices of the North Dakota Federation of Women’s clubs. There are about 225 members in the Fargo chapter and about 55 in that at Valley City, making the local group the second largest. Constitution Adopted - ‘The purpose as outlined in the con- stitution and by-laws adopted at the 3; 1—To ‘women who pioneered in North Da- kota; 2—To perpetuate the history and promote the resources and activi- ties of the state. Membership in the chapter will be open at any time to any woman who is @ descendant from a woman who was married and settled in North Da- ‘kota before the admission of the state to the Union in 1889, provided the ap- Plicant is a direct blood descendant and is acceptable to the club. Annual membership dues are $1. Several women who attended the preliminary meeting last Friday evening will be added to the charter membership Ust at a later date. Mrs. Davis, the presiding officer, suggested the appropriateness of April 12, 1934, as the date for organizing the chapter when she recalled that the worst blizzard in the history of the state occurred on April 12, 1893. Others assisting with the organization were Miss Huber who was secretary {for the meeting and Miss Anna D. Burr, who acted as treasurer. Three pioneer mothers who were present were made honorary members. They are Mrs. William A. Falconer, Mrs. Henry W. Richholt and Mrs. Charles L. Pearce. ‘The women present drew up a roll of pioneer mothers and also began & memory roll: of deceased pioneer mothers. Both lists will be completed a8 @ project of the group.
