He’s waited long enough to realize Tm a busy man.” | AT THE MOVIES | Buck Jones Provides Laughs and Thrills in ‘The Thrill Hunter’| | One excellent reason for the sus-| tained popularity of outdoor action pictures in general and Buck Jones in Particular is demonstrated in “The ‘Thrill Hunter,” which is playing at the Capitol Theatre Friday and Sat- urday. It is @ lengthy stride for the better that these outdoor western pictures hhave taken with the new recipes for action, thrills and laughs. “The Thrill Hunter” is superb ex- ample of how Hollywood has widened its scope in concocting novel and Pleasing cinema fare. Buck Jones, always a favorite, exhibits new tal- ents, not only for providing thrills and romance, but for possessing an excellent sense of comedy values. As a prevaricating cow-puncher Buck Jones works himself into a web of uproarious circumstances by con- vincing Hollywood that he is the world’s champion racing driver as well as dare-devil war aviator. He confidently spins the most fantastic yarns and consequently lands a con- tract in Hollywood where the trouble begins. It’s all @ lot of fun; there is more than the usual mount of action and numerous hearty laughs when Buck begins to become involved in the meshes of his own prevarications. Dorothy Revier makes a charming character of Marjorie Lane, the fa- mous screen actress. Featured in a uniformly good cast are Ed Le Saint, New M-G-M Mystery Film Permeated With Suspense A new and exciting picture opens today at the Paramount Theatre. It is a murder mystery thriller of the first water, a product of Metro-Gold- ap Maiee entitled “Mystery of Mr. Robert Montgomery stars in the role of Revel, suave gentleman crook. Elizabeth Allan is his leading lady. She is Jane, daughter of the Chief Commissioner of Scotland Yard— which in itself gives some idea of the Scope of the new firm. Based on the Crime Club novel, “Mystery of the Dead Police,” by Philip MacDonald, it is as exciting in Picture form as it was in the widely read novel. Edgar Selwyn did a sur- Passing good job of direction. The picture is concerned chiefly with the hair-raising machinations of the murderer “X”, who consistently notifies the newspapers by postcard when he is about to strike, then laughs at them later. London police- men are his victims and all the vast resources of Scotland Yard are shown focused on activities for his arrest. Revel (Robert Montgomery) steals the famous Drayton diamond, intend- ing to capture “X”, plant the gem on his body, then claim the enormous insurance company reward. Lewis Stone is the super-sleuth and Henry Stephenson the Chief Com- missioner. Each, as usual, brings a Eddie Kane, Arthur Rankin, Frank La Rue and Robert Ellis.
