Davies Relates Recent Work of National Music Federation The happy choice of program and beauty of the setting made the 19th annual banquet of the Thursday Mu- sical club, held Thursday evening at the Grand Pacific hotel, an event which long will be remembered by the 80 persons who were present. Each member of the club invited a guest. The three tables were. artistically Gecorated with tall red tapers in hold- ers trimmed with pleated crepe paper, tuterspersed with red roses and white freesia in bud vases, and tiny red hearts. A large silver basket, filled with the roses and freesia, centered tne speaker's table. Singing of the club song, with Mrs. John L. Hughes at the piano, opened the banquet. The song was followed by the invocation, given by Rev. Opie 8. Rindahl. President Welcomes Guests Mrs, Forrest M. Davis, president of the club, welcomed the guests and gave a short resume of the recent work of the National Federation of Music clubs which has been centered around the promotion of American music and American composers, More than 400,000 performances of Amer- ican compositions have been given by music clubs throughout the United States in the last four years, Mrs, Davis said. Mrs. Davis paid tribute to North Dakota, which claims the national president of the federation, Mrs. John Alexander Jardine, Fargo. Her talk included stories illustrating the po- tent influence and different degrees of appreciation of various kinds of music, Mrs, Davis then introduced Miss Belle Mehus who, with appropriate stories and quotations, presented those who participated in the musical pro- gram, which follows: MANY IN PROGRAM Vocal duets—Passage Bird’s Fare- well, Hildach; When Twilight Weaves, arrangement of Minuet in G, Bee- thoven, Mrs. F.
