Less than two weeks ago, Le Roy was the guest of President and Mrs. Franklin D. Roosevelt at the White House and performed with Eide Norena, soprano, in @ morning concert attended by many diplomatic corps members. The other four members all are making their American debuts with the quintet this season. They in- clude Rene Bas, violin, Pierre Jamet, harp, Pierre Grout, viola, and Roger Boulme, cello. The unique combination of instru- ments in the quintet produces rare | and beautiful tone coloring and has ‘appealed particularly popular to mod- ern composers. In the program to be given here Saturday, the quintet will play works of Gabriel Pierne, Claude Debussy and Joseph Jongen, who with Ravel, Hindemith, D'Indy, Roussel | and others have been inspired to write music for the ensemble. Originally the purpose of the group was to bring to the public the rare old masterpieces, which were written for this unusual combination of in- struments. Works of Francois Cou- | perin and W. A. Mozart are included | in Saturday's program. A year ago the quintet celebrated its 10th anniversary in Paris.
