The triangle fmvolves Kay Francis, the star, Lyle Walbot and Thelma Todd. A boy and a girl, playmates from childhood, study medical surgery to- gether, pass their apprenticeship as dnternes in the same hospital and set up practice in adjoining offices, their friendship ripening into love. The ambition of the man, however, Sees an opportunity in a marriage with the daughter of a powerful iticlan. So the childhood sweet- art steps aside, although she con- tinues to watch over the man she loves with a mothering instinct. It is not until the man gets en- tangled in domestic scandal and fin- ancial entanglements that cause his indictment, that she goes to him and gives him her love. : Kay Fancis is said to give a strong performance as the woman doctor ‘whose love for “her man” is enduring “Whoopee,” which came to the Capitol theatre last night, is one of those pictures which give the public its money's worth in almost any di- rection you want to think of. Hilar- ious comedy from such experts as Ed- die Cantor, the star, and Ethel Shut- ta, tuneful songs of every variety, beautiful girls galore as only Ziegfeld can pick them, an affecting love-story, and a general air of satisfying lavish- ness make it a picture in a million, Samuel Goldwyn has here shown that the talking color screen can out- do the stage whenever it wants to 0000 *\_/ ani YOU VA GIGOLO — YA HAD 10 BE AROUND TA KETCH TH!"
