THE BISMARCK TRIBUNE, FRIDAY, OCTOBER 13, 1988 . “GRANT INACTION IN UNIONS BEHALF Wisconsin Judge Orders Em-/ ployer to Refrain From Further Interference Milwaukee, Wis., Oct. 13—(?)—The Simplex Shoe Manufacturing com- pany was enjoined Friday from in- terfering with unionization of work- ers and labor leaders hailed the court order @ preliminary victory of nation- in interpretation of "s rights under the NRA. Circuit Judge John J. Gregory held the company had violated Section ‘1A, the so,Called labor provision of the National Recovery Act, by refus- ‘@ ing to deal with C. J, McMorrow, Bos- ton, vice president of the Interna- tional Boot and Shoe Workers’ Union. The Simplex firm, the judge held, had threatened workers with loss of employment if the plant were_union- ized. The court quoted a statement of A. 8. Weyenberg, vice president of the company, which was read to em- Ployes. Weyenberg, according to court records, said: “In the event that we have any in-| terference from the union or any out- side. organization we shall be forced to close our plant indefinitely for the reason that’ a salesman will be unable to sell our product on a com- petitive basis.” ~ “The language of the statement,” Judge Gregory said, “shows an at-/ tempt.on the part of the defendant | to deny the right of its employees to organize freely and to bargain col-| _—— | Husband Is Awarded | First Call on Auto et Minneapolis, F district court jury-decided Friday that a husband has the right to possess the- family automobile when he demands it. Furthermore, the jury gave a husband a judgment for $85 against his wife for use of the car she refused to surrender. The action was brought by Irv- ing Potek, of Minneapolis, for- merly a Pollock, 8. D., merchant. He and Mrs. Potek were married in Pollock in 1930 and last year came here to live. Testimony showed that last year Potek left his wife and wanted to take the automobile with him. She said no and he retorted with an action to gain possession of the car. The jurors decided Potek was entitled to the vehicle and $85 for her use of it. A divorce action’ brought by Mrs, Potek is pending. Potek had started similar suit previously, but 4t was dismissed after a recon- ciliation.
