In his newest picture he is said to have been given his great- est opportunity to put over the rapid- fire good humor which has endeared him to millions of moviegoers. In “Made on Broadway,” Mont- gomery has the role of a debonair man-about-town who is actually the power behind the city’s political scene. He prevents Miss Eilers from committing suicide as a result of poverty, and transforms her into a dazzling Broadway personality. When an unanticipated murder takes place Montgomery is forced to strain his Tesources to the limit in order to save his “synthetic mistress” from the death penalty. PRESENTS CONSERVATION PROGRAM St. Paul, July 13—()—A half-mil- * Mon dollar conservation program, call- ing for establishment or enlarging of Public game refuges, hunting grounds and other recreational areas in the state, was.presented to the Minne- sota conservation commission Wednes- day by E. V. Willard, acting head of the department of conservation. “Hold Your Man” Is Rough, Rowdy, And Romantic The reunion of Jean Harlow and Clark Gable is Metro-Goldwyn-May- er's answer to the public’s prayer. Ever since the smashing success of their romantic teamwork in “Red Dust”, it was inevitable that Miss Harlow and Gable should play a re- turn engagement on the screen. And now, after seeing “Hold Your Man” at the Paramount Theatre, it is this reviewer's opinion that the demand will be further extended. Whatever it takes to put romance on the screen, Harlow and Gable have it. More dramatic than most stories on this order, the new picture never- theless packs warm interludes bound to keep the matinee seats full so long as the film shows. There is no doubt that this pair are the most popular Jovers on the screen today. HUGH JOHNSON BUSY Washington, July 13.—(?)— Hugh 8. Johnson wants more industrial codes to work on, he says, “because I don’t like to sit here twiddling my thumbs.” His aides want to know when he twiddles. So far he has worked nearer 20 hours a day than eight had sandwiches brought in for lunch, and sometimes for supper, run. from one meeting to another, been Pursued by messengers summoning him to the white house only to beg the president repeatedly to let him off a while longer to wind up this or that, ELECTRIC POWER GAINS New York, July 13.—(#)—The larg- est gain in electric power output since the state of the upturn early in May was reported Wednesday by the Edi- son Electric Institute for the week ended July 8.
