POISON IVY~- MA THINKS Wee Won REUL= “i Lt leg when the dude season is over and I can take foff this outfit.” — THIS CURIOUS WORLD Jean Harlow and Gable Triumph in “Hold Your Man” Picture Has Everything in Way of First-Rate Entertainment Jean Harlow and Clark Gable are teamed again in “Hold Your Man,” which opens tomorrow at the Para- mount theater, following in the wake of their smashing success in “Red Dust,” which brought 3 popular de- mand for the present reunion. In a story calculated to afford the co-stars opportunity for perform- ances fitting their individual talents and personalities, Metro-Goldwyn- Mayer offers a production both in- tensely dramatic and romantic. An original by Anita Loos, the story con- cerns a rowdy love affair that be- gins as a sketchy interlude but winds up as a vividly human romance. Sam Wood has directed the pic- ture with a fine valuation of the starring pair’s popularity. His tem- po is swift and smooth and the love seenes are about as warm as this reviewer has seen in many a day— or night. ‘Under a miscroscope, influenza germs are blue, pneumonia germs Jook like strings of minute pale saus- ages, and scarlet fever germs like ropes of scarlet rings. According to ancient folklore and superstition, on many occasions birds were supposed to have whispered to humans; hence the expression, “A little bird told me.” There are over 2,800,000 telephones on farms in the United States, about 44 per cent of the total number of farms in the country. Abstemiously, facetiously and ar- senious contain all the vowels in their proper order. ‘Peg O’My Heart’ Is Grand Entertainment Sure, and it’s grand entertain- ment, is “Peg O' My Heart.” All the Irish whimsey of the fa- mous stage play has been defty cap- tured in the making of the new Marion Davies starring vehicle that opens today at the Capitol theater for a two-day engagement. The charm and hoyden capricious- ness of the little Celtic lass we knew So well in the theater when Laurette Taylor played in it, have been care- fully retained by Miss Davies in her splendid performance. Indeed, she gives the most sincere and effective Portrayal this reviewer has witnessed in many months. Her Peg is simply delightful. Onslow Stevens, a comparative newcomer, is the leading man in the film and gives rise to expectations that he will forge his way to an in- dividual niche on the screen. He is certain of a strong following, judg- ing from the easy negotiation of his first important role. Robert Z. Leonard directed the picture from the J. Hartley Manners Play. Frances Marion did the adapt- ation and the screen play is by Frank R. Adams. The story moves with straightforward clarity and departs only in trifling incidents from the original theme. Cloudcroft, N. Mex., lays claim to having the loftiest golf course in the United States; situated on top of the Sacramento mountains, the course is 9000 feet above sea level. The coldest town in the world is Verkhoyansky, Siberia, where, on January 15, 1885, the thermometer read 90.4 degrees below zero.
