N. D. ACCIDENTS ON DOWNWARD TREND Premium Collections and Pay- ment Figures Not so Fav- orable, Wenzel Says With a reduction of 3.7 per cent ‘over the first quarter of 1930, the ac- cident records for the first three months of 1933 show a trend toward more normal conditions, according to R. E. Wenzel, chairman of the work- . Men's compensa. :n bureau. Wenzel said the accident records show a trend towards more normal conditions, but the “depression causes” | ~ have not been entirely eliminated. Premium collection figures and com- pensation payment figures do not show up as favorably, he said. ‘There were 1,147 accidents for the first quarter of 1933, he said, compar- ing the total to 1,191 in 1930, 1,321 in 1931, and 1,319 in 1932, This discloses @ 3.7 per cent reduction over 1930 in the number of accidents, Wenzel Pointed out. “Premium collection figures and Compensation payment figures how- ever, do not show up as favorably. Premium collections in January and February of this year are 35 per cent below those of 1930, while compensa- tion payments are only 14 per cent below those of 1930,” Wenzel stated. “Compared, therefore, with payroll, or man-hour exposure, the accident reduction may be taken only as a slight trend and must continue to a more pronounced change before the asumption may be made that we have returned to a normal loés basis. “The really hopeful sign lies in this | fact: That compensation costs are slightly below those of January and February, 1932, the bureau's worst year, and premium income is some- what higher for that period.” ——_________ ___¢| | Rural Church Notices ?
