L, Conklin drew a vivid word picture of this old French and Spanish city for members of the Fortnightly club Wednesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. P. J. Meyer, 912 Fourth St. Mrs. Conklin spent about 10 days in New Orleans last winter visiting historic spots and touring the French Quarter. Tales of the picturesque figures whose activities make the history of the city under the French and Span- ish regimes so fascinating, were re- called by Mrs. Conklin, who describ- ed its markets, its shrines, cemeter- {es and parks which make it one of the few American cities which still retains an old-world flavor.
