1 { IPE RAGS ar He®kser Ge? a8 ND TO SEND HERD TO CHICAGO'S SHOW Olsen Brothers of Griggs Coun- ty Fitting Milking Short- | ‘ horns For Display Chicago, ‘Nov. 5—(#)—Among the prominent North Dakota cattlemen who will send exhibition herds to the 1932 International Livestock Exposi- tion, to be held at the Chicago stock- yards Nov. 26 to Dec. 3, are Olsen Brothers of Griggs county, North Da- kota. Olsen Brothers are fitting a show herd of milking Shorthorn cattle on their farm near Hananford, prepara- tory to exhibiting them in the compe- titions of this popular breed of beef and milk cattle at the contingent’s largest agricultural exposition. Although entries for the livestock classes of the show closed Nov. 1, with what the management reports is the largest number of animals ever nom- inated in the history of the exposi- tion, entries for the International Grain and Hay Show will be acceptec until Nov. 10. The grain show is a department of the exposition, but is in itself regard- | ed as the biggest display of farm crops in the world. Practically every state in the Union, province of Can- ada, and several distant countries will send samples of*their harvests to the grain show this year, says B. H. Heide, secretary-manager of the ex-| position, Officials Discuss University Budget | Grand Forks, N. D., Nov. 5.—(?)— University of North Dakota budget requests for the biennium beginning July 1, 1933, were discussed at an all-day conference of President Thom- as F. Kane and other university ad- ministrative officials with members of the state budget board and repre- sentatives of the state board of ad- ministration Friday. Although the budget requests show- ed a considerable reduction from those of two years ago when the last previous appropriation was made by the legislature, figures on the esti- mated university needs for the two- year period which will begin July 1, were not announced. Deans of various university depart- ments appeared before the budget group to explain their requirements for the next two years. Budget board members conferring here were S. J. Atkins of Cando and D. L. Peters of Wolford, chairmen of the senate and house appropriation committees at the last session, while representing the state board of ad- ministration were Nelson Sauvain, chairman, and R. M. Rishworth. Their conference here was one of ® series with officiais of state inst! tutions, preparatory to making bud- get recommendations to the next state legislature.
