BOSTON MAYOR REPS HOOVER IN ADDRES Says Administration's Record Is One of Ineptitude, q Broken Promises Billings, Mont., Sept. 9.—()—Open- ing the Democratic campaign in this section, Mayor James J. Curley of Boston, Thursday charged the Repub- lican party with broken campaign promises and declared “nomination of Franklin D. Roosevelt and the cer- tainty of his election” had swung the American people toward renewed con- fidence. Mayor Curley addressed a crowd at the Midland Empire Fair here. Ho pictured Roosevelt, Democratic candi- date for president, as the man under whose “leadership an economic pro- gram will be adopted that will restore not only hope, but opportunity for the workers.” people in Franklin D. Roosevelt,” Curley said, “is unquestionably re- sponsible for the gradual disappear- ance of the psychology of fear through @ partial ending of hoarding upon the part of those at work .and Jacquie Downs, 18, of Pampa, ) Tex., was crowned “queen of the West” in competition with other southwestern beauties at a pageant In Roswell, N.
