D., July 8, 1932, Editor, Tribune: I have written once before to you commending you on your sensible at- titude toward North Dakota politics. Lately (since the primary election) I have read three more articles or edi- torials from your paper and I want to say that you certainly look at the sit- uation in the right manner. The peo- ple have truly spoken. It would seem V. A’s have done nothing constructive in the last six years and their press has been in need of a house cleaning. We asa people can think for ourselves. ‘As you already know I have, been @ Nonpartisan ever since I came to North Dakota and I have had my quarrel with your one-time policy. ‘The league has made mistakes—bad mistakes. Still it would seem that if not else has been accomplished it, at the least, threw out the old gang that ruled the state for 30 years and sold us to eastern interests, body and soul. We must go slow now on any new- fangled ideas. This is no time to ex- periment. I believe the league will keep to a middle course, trying hard to reduce taxes, and still trying to give the peo- ple a progressive form of legislation. If they don’t I am through. Every one knows that our present banking system is a tragic failure and that here and there over the state where no banking facilities are avail- able branch banks from the Bank of North Dakota should be established. It would seem that the I. V. A. press of the state should realize when they are thoroughly trounced and take their chastising in the right way. But as you have said there are always some “Die-hards.” Thanking you again I am very sin- cerely, W. V. Jacobson. Buy or Sell Through Bring Results McLean Is Beaten In Grand Forks, N.
