The Boilermakers will start tonight, meeting Ohio State at Lafayette, and if successful against the Buckeyes, will be in a spot to go to thé top by defeating Northwestern Saturday night. Northwestern, after squeezing out three one-point victories in its bat- tle to retain the lead, finally sagged Saturday night and lost to Iowa, 30 to 25. The Hawkeyes, a very indif- ferent outfit which failed to win a game during the first half of the sea- son, continued to show improvement and were at the top of their game against the Wildcats, which suffered their first defeat in nine games. Purdue scored its fourth victory in five games at the expense of Chicago, 40 to 27. Minnesota, rated an excellent bet for at least a tie for the title, slipped and took a 27 to 22 beating from In- diana at Bloomington. The defeat dropped the Gophers into third place behind Purdue, and left them with a record of five victories and two de- feats.
