McMahan has been working cauti- ously with his charges, keeping them pounding away at fundamentals dur- ing the first days of practice. Al- though he has a squad of seasoned veterans, the Mandan mentor is mak- ing certain that the rough spots are droned out before advanced drill is undertaken. Eighteen candidates, eight of them Jast_ year’s lettermen, are practicing daily and present indications point to the stiffest competition for first string berths that players ever have been called upon to face in the history of the Mandan institution. Fevold, president. Fevold was the local club's delegate to the meeting early this week. Bismarck will get the 1933 district convention, Fevold said.
