NEWS OF OUR NEIGHBORS Glencoe By DON NICHOLSON Recent rains have added much to the appearance of this district in gen- eral. Much damage was already done to small grain, although some ields held out well. Corn and pota- toes are looking fine but considerable damage has been done by cutworms and high winds. Some fields of flax also look good. a July Fourth was spent in a quiet way by most of the residents of this vicinity. Mr. and Mrs. Garrison, John Beck- nall and Otto Johnson were July 4 guests at the Angelo Pasquetti home: John Becknall called at the Nor- man Stewart, the John Stewart and the Annie Smith homes Sunday. Bill Ferguson spent a few days re- cently: at the home of his brother, L. T. Ferguson. Work of grading the county line ‘west of the Glencoe church is pro- gressing favorably and the job will probably be completed this month. Homer Anderson and family called on friends in this vicifity recently. Mr. Anderson has been absent from this district for the last two years, spending most of that time in the Red river valley. A. V. Luce left recently for New York state, where he will spend some time with relatives and friends. Helen’ Becknall of Bismarck is spending the summer with Annie Smith, John Alex Stewart has recently re- turned from Rochester, Minn., where he was taking treatments. Mr. Stew- art is somewhat improved in health. Norman Stewart has returned to his home after an absence of several weeks. Mr. and Mrs. August Hogue and sons of McKenzie were recent vis!- tors in Burr Oak and Telfer town- ships.
