J. Heising and Mrs. F. C. Stucke at the meeting of the Bismarck Study club yesterday afternoon at the home of Mrs. J. C. Oberg. A thorough study of South America from the time of its settlement by the Spaniards and Portuguese up to the present will be conducted by the club. The topics yesterday dealt with discovery and settlement as well as the types of civilization developed by the Incas and other tribes. Mrs. H. E, Shearn and Mrs. Oberg gave reports of the recent federation convention, as did Mrs. F. E. Diehi. chairman of the badges committe? for the convention. It was announced that Mrs. Ralph Penner, a member of the club, bad received honorable mention ior her essay, “My Visit to an Indian School,” written for a contest sponsored by the department of Indian welfare of the general federation of women’s clubs. Delphian Society to Make Study of Drama Members of the Bismarck Delphian society will open the fall season with a 1:30 o'clock luncheon Friday after- noon at the Hotel Prince, at which Mrs, C. W. Cehroegge will be hostess. The regular business session and Program will follow the luncheon, with Mrs. C. B. Rosen and Mrs. F. C. Stucke presenting the program ‘will discuss “Dramatid In- stincts and Earliest Real Drama,” and Mrs. Stucke will speak on “Develop- ment of the Moving Picture Art.” The Delphians’ study this year will center around drama, and the history of this are from the earliest times will be traced. Correlated with the topic will be a study of playwrights and the abies dos playhouses. 2s Mrs. Alfred Zuger and Miss Madge Runey were hostesses at a dinner in honor of Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Dick- inson and daughter Dency, and Mrs. Hermann Scheffer, who left today for Pierre, 8. D., where Mr. Dickin- son will become superintendent of the U. 8. Indian school, and Mrs. Schef- fer will be music instructor. The guests also included the Misses Clara and Lillian Peltier, who will attend school in Pierre this year, and sev- eral of the teaching staff at the school. Places were laid for 16 at the table, which had a centerpiece of au- tumn flowers and was lighted with bronze tapers.
