FOUR BENZONS HURT IN SEDAN OVERTURN Wife of Lutheran Pastor In Hospital With Possibly Broken Shoulder Overturn of their car brought in- jury to four members of the family of Rev. Emil Benzon, pastor of the First Lutheran church, Friday afternoon, 16 miles north of Bismarek. Mrs. Benzon is in a hospital with undetemined extent of injuries, but an X-Ray examination is expected to show shoulder blade fracture. The only members of the family not in- jured were Gilbert, usually the driver of the Benzon sedan, who was on a trip to Minot and did not accompany the party, and Stanley, aged 6, who hasn’t even a scratch. The accident was due to a puncture blowing out the left front tire, which caused the car to turn over twice in the ditch and twist around. The top was smashed and the Benzons shot through this as the sedan rolled over on its second round. Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Johnson, of the Minot Daily News, were passing at the time and bre. -nt the injured family to Bismarck. ‘The Benzons :::d driven north for a Fourth of July iunch in the open. They went to Wilton to visit Oscar Lund, student pastor of the Lutheran church there, but finding‘ no picnic ground or tourist camp there, started back for home. Valley City Smithy Kills Himself After Fatal Auto Accident Valley City, Chris Larson, 33, here, was killed in an automobile ac- cident, and his companion Andrew Hanson, 45, Valley City blacksmith employe, committed suicide ‘following the mishap as the result of brooding over the tragedy. His owner, Lewis Satterthwaite of Newton, Pa., was shipping Alphonse to Europe to compete in German fairs, and had loaded him aboard a ferry this morning for the trip to Brooklyn, his port of embarkafion. Half way across Buttermilk channel Alphonse burst out of his crate, paced a first mate a couple of trial laps around the deck, then leaped over- board. Through the channels, down into the narrows, and finally into Grave- send bay Alphonse swam, with police tugs snorting in his wake and trying to surround him. Another police tug was called, and then another, until there were four— but the problem of rescuing Alphonse was one with which they were un- equipped to cope. Both were reported missing and both were seen at the airport shortly before the plane was taken without ee from its hangar, police said. Edythe K. Smith, 13, Of Tappen, Dies Here Edythe K. Smith, 13-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Smith, who live on a farm near Tappen, died in the city after a few days illness which brought her here tor treatment. July 5.—(®)—Two men were shot and killed, one while \inside Frank Milano's restaurant and the other just as he had stepped out- side today. Both are believed to have been “put on the spot” in a bootleg war, One of the men was identified as Joe Porello, head of Cleveland's corn sugar business since the murder in October, 1927, of “Big Joe” and John Lonardo. It is to be a 17-story building. The exterior walls will be entirely of glass and a chromium nickel alloy which looks like silver. Bowman Bros., Inc., are the architects, and construction will begin in October. The 3 1-2 inch walls, only a fourth as thick as the walls of an ordinary brick building, will have heat insulat- ing qualities equal to those of a 36- inch brick wall. The plans call for double windows further to minimize heat losses.
