Resume Search for Slayer of Warden Duluth, June 20—()—Active search for the slayer of Norman D. Fatr- 4 banks, Hibbing, deputy game warden, abandoned about a month ago fol- lowing a failure to icentify a suspect arrested, was resumed late Thursday, by a posse of county deputy sheriffs, acting on information from settlers living in the Sturgeon lake district, north of Hibbing. ‘No report had been received here this morning by Sheriff Frank L. Magie from the 12 men who are searching for the two men, said to be wanted in connection with the slaying of Fairbanks, shot while at a trap- pers’ cabin in the Wolf Lake district last April 25. Advice received by Sheriff Magie from settlers was to the effect that two men, said to answer the descrip- tion of the two men who were at the cabin at the time of the shooting, had been seen in the Sturgeon Lake dis- trict recently. One man, alleged former North Da- kota convict, was arrested in connec- tion with the slaying, but was released when it was revealed he had been living in Dakota for two years. Reed Offers Defense For London Navy Pact ‘Washington, June 20.—(?)—Reply- ing to Senator Hiram Johnson's criti- i Senator Reed of Pennsylvania, who participated in, its foundation, last | night praised the pact and urged) its ratification. He spoke by radio in answer to an | address similarly delivered by John- son the night before. Much of his comment was directed at the remarks | of the latter. ‘The treaty, Reed said, “remover) competition in naval . construction, among the three leading powers in the world,” gives “three countries a! holiday from battleship building dur- , ing the next seven years and saves | the taxpayers of the United States an outlay of $400,000,000 on revlac-ment of battleships alone.” Continuing, he said: “It allows the peoples of these three great nations to rest secure in knowi- edge that no one of the three can be attacked in its home waters by any nation on earth. It makes plain to all the world that none of tne three countries is designing war upon either of the others. It promotes to a: im- portant degree the international friendship that we all desire.” CANADIAN ‘WETS’ WIN St. John, N.
