we Ki W ~~ Vv Fifteen Tables Play : ~ At Choir Card Party — Bridge was playea at fifteen tables at the card party held last evening in the paristi house of St. George's Episcopal church, given under the auspices of the church choir. Honors in the games were held by Mrs. H. J. Taylor, Mrs. George Smith, J. L. Bankston, and William Falconer. ton, 8. A. Floren, Roy Corwin, J. Brown-Gussner Give Bridge-Dinner Mrs, E. A. Brown and Mrs. A. W. eGussner were joint hostesses at a bridge dinner last evening at the Brown home, 617 Sixth street. Table appointments carried out a lavender and gold color note, and candles in these colors lighted the tables. Cov- ers were laid for 24, Mrs. W. E. Parsons and Mrs. H. A. Thompson held honors in the bridge games which followed the dinner. Mrs. Halsey Hall, Minneapolis, was ® guest from out of the city. Mrs. Brown and Mrs. Gussner will | Danish Folk Schools Discussed. by Club “Danish Folk Schools” was the topic of a paper given by Mrs. R. E. Wenzel at the Cosmos club meeting last evening held at the home of Mrs. . L. Peart, with Mrs. L. B. Sowles, president of the club as hostess, -The folk schools are a government project, planned to build up the ideals of the rural community, and have { time more than 40,000 young people have been enrolled. Since the schools are for those between the ages of 18 and 25, and teach subjects which will be of actual use in every day life, ex- cellent results have been obtained. At present similar ‘schools are being established in the mountain regions lof the Carolinas, ; Miss Lillian Cook ably led the dis- cussion of Martin’s chapter on “Edu- cation,” from the text book ,“Whither Mankind.” Mrs. H. J. Guests were members of the Mandan-Bismarck alumni asso- ciation of Jamestown college, which Mrs. Osborn attended, and several of the group were classmates of Mrs. Osborn. ees Miss Lillian Cook, secretary of the North Dakota Library commission, left today for Fargo, where she will speak on several phases of library work at meetings during Farmer’s and Homemaker’s week.
