The word “organization” has been its keynote during this period in the belief that the farmers will be able to stabilize their own industry through coordinated effort substituted for | j haphazard methods of production and marketing. Each member of the board is an ad- vocate of the cooperative marketing movement, and all of its decisions have been intended to strengthen the cooperatives dealing with the com- modities accorded treatment. The ultimate aim of the board’s market- ting program ts to have‘every Icad- ing crop marketed by existing co- Operatives through large national corporations, governed if necessary, by commodity advisory councils. Its fundamental purpose is to build up farmer owned and farmer controlled cooperative in- | stitutions for marketing wheat and coarse grains. It will be cligible to borrow several millions from the farm Telief revolving fund, if necessary, to carry on its activities. The foundation has been prepared for a similar undertaking in the wool industry. The wool cooperatives will mect with the board in Chicago early | in October to discuss plans for the creation of a national marketing agency and an advisory council. The tobacco sit- uation will be given attention soon. Florida citrus fruit growers have been informed that the board stands ready to help them as soon as they bring about a closer union of the co- operatives now marketing that crop. Petitions have been heard from Cali- fornia raisin growers but no informa- tion regarding progress in this con- nection has been made public. After marketing problems have been reviewed, the board intends to inquire carefully into the whole prob- lem of irrigation, reclamation and Jand utilization, but, though great im- Paper is attached to that question It esate will have to wait some BANDIT SHOOTS EAR FROM MINOT VICTIM Minot, N.
