The Baldwin Livestock association shipped cattle from the local loading station Friday afternoon. Mrs. Sam Hanson and niece, Miss Hazel Holen, of Staples, Minn., spent part of the week with friends and relatives at Bowden and Harvey. Richard Borner transacted business in Wilton Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Borner spent Sunday at the Hugo Solberg home in Naughton township. The local lumber yard building is receiving a new coat of paint. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Jiras and son Joe left Sunday morning for Wiscon- sin where they were called by the death of the five-year-old grand- cGaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jiras, Frances Fischer, who died with ap- pendicitis. They made the trip by car, and expect to be away about a week. Mr. and Mrs. Fulton Nelson were Pleasantly entertained at the Joc Varley home Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Nordstrom and family and Mr. and Mrs. Knownley Dorman and family spent Sunday at ‘Wildwood. Erickson lost a few stacks, A few hundred peorle turned out to fight it and saved some haystacks by back firing. GRESS The fire department was ca:led out Saturday afternoon to put out a fire jin a pile of ties in the yard of Sec- tion Foreman Carl Omodt. The fire was caused by sparks from No. 7 and had gained too much headway by the time it was noticed to be extin- guished. Only a few of the ties were saved. Sparks from No. 7 -also set fire in Carl Altes’ grain field the same day, but it was discovered and put out before much grain was burned. Prof. and Mrs. L. B. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Carlson lost considerable of their household goods one night last week when their house burned. They awoke late in the night to find the house on fire. D., arrived here Saturday and is visiting her sister, Mrs. R. G. Abel- ein. Jelmar Swensen, whp is working at the Ludemann farm, went to Bismarck Friday suffering with an attack of appendicitis. MOFFIT The community was sadly shoo! last Thursday to learn of the accident that befell the Hoeft family and caused the 4 of Mr. Hoeft at the Bismarck ho pital the following morning. They h been at Sterling to do some sho and were returning home, pretty fast. Some other cars coming toward them, and in ord not to hit them Mr. Hoeft slammed on his brakes and, striking the loo gravel, the car turned over sever times. The occupants were picked and taken to Bismarck. Mr. He died the following morning wit regaining consciousness.
